| It is not very often that we get to highlight a truly inspirational movie playing in theaters. And frankly, it was a difficult decision to include The Blind Side into our recommendation as there is at least one scene that we would term inappropriate. As such, you may or may not want to include your small children in this family movie watching experience. (The scene mentioned includes a fairly crude comment.)
However, after deliberation, the committee decided that this movie had too many wonderful aspects, lessons and solid inspirational motives to overlook. A story filled with so much risky self sacrifice, overlooking of stereotypes and investment into the life of a single person did not escape our notice even if some of the darker aspects of real life are nonetheless included.
I saw this movie over Christmas break and was so moved by it; I rarely see movies in theaters and am even less inclined to do so for such a hype-generating movie as The Blind Side. However, I thought the acting was impeccable, the main characters above reproach, and the new, yet truthful, take on the classic inspirational sports story wholly refreshing. In fact, I will go so far as to say that I am even a pseudo Baltimore Ravens fan now--how trite of me!!
Use your best discretion for small children with this film; we feel confident, however, that the overwhelmingly positive outweighs the negative therein. read more |
