| A spectacular 2008 CAMIE AWARDS event was held on May 3rd at the elegant Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills. Mark Steines, host of Entertainment Tonight, and his wife Leanza Cornett, a television personality herself, were the hosts for the evening. CAMIE AWARDS are presented every year for the most uplifting entertaining motion pictures and for those who create them. This year's CAMIE AWARDS went to five inspiring films made for theatrical release and five made especially for television:

Each year beautiful solid bronze CAMIES are presented to the best motion pictures of the year that are uplifting and that do not contain offensive content. But in addition to a CAMIE being presented for each uplifting film, an individual CAMIE is presented to each of the key individuals responsible for the film--including the producer, director, writer, and lead actors. Among the well-known CAMIE recipients this year were Bill Cobbs, Donna Cherry, and Ali Hillis for The Ultimate Gift, Ioan Gruffudd for Amazing Grace, Josh Flitter for Nancy Drew, David Paterson and Bailee Madison for Bridge to Terabithia, and Dale Midkiff, Erin Cotrell and Victor Brown for Love's Unending Legacy. As has become a tradition, The Hallmark Hall of Fame again received CAMIE awards this year, as they have at every CAMIE awards since the first in 2001. Either the president or vice-president of Hallmark Hall of Fame, or both, have been present to receive their CAMIES each time. Jan Parkinson was present again this year to receive CAMIES for Pictures of Hollis Woods and for Crossroads, a touching true story about the tragic crash caused by teenagers street-racing that caused the death of a mother and her young daughter. At first the accident was incorrectly blamed on the mom, which enraged her husband, Bruce Murakami. He sought to clear his wife's name and to be sure the teen driver didn't get away without consequences for causing such an inexcusable loss of his loved ones.
