As far as uplifting shows in theaters, we can recommend UP from Disney/PIXAR.

With a great scarcity of G-rated films in theaters these days, UP is a film you can go to safely with your family, from young kids to great-grandparents.

UP is a wonderful animated fantasy with some tender moments along with the excitement you've come to expect from Disney and Pixar. While you'll need to stretch your imagination, you won't be bored or disappointed whether you choose to see it in 2-D or 3-D.
